This Week's Tip
How to Use AI to Repurpose your Content in 60 Seconds
The internet is full of content marketing gurus telling you to repurpose your best content.
But is anyone actually showing you how?
It’s easier said than done.
“Just take your best post from 6 months ago, rewrite it or reformat it and hey presto!”
Not helpful.
Especially when there’s a million different ways you can write or format it. Your mind is still spinning with no direction. Overwhelming. Confusion.
I’ve struggled to repurpose plenty because of this.
The gap from old piece of content to new angle to write is LARGE.
But there’s good news…we have AI to help us bridge that gap.
Over the last few months I’ve been using ChatGPT to create repurposing ideas for me.
It doesn’t re-write it for me, but it bridges the gap between:
“This post did well 6 months ago, I should repurpose it”
to
“Here’s the new direction I’ll take to repurpose this content”
Here’s the simple ChatGPT prompt I use to kickstart the process:
“I'm going to share with you a LinkedIn post about {topic}.
Write 1 new post for each format type below. Write in the same style, tone and level of language as the original.
Here's the LinkedIn post:
{Copy and paste your LinkedIn post}
Here are the formats:
- Step by step
- Opinion
- Story
- Case study
- Framework
- Example
- Template
- Lesson
- Benefit
- Mistake”
You’ll get back a version for each format.
Warning: they will not be perfect, but they’re never going to be.
All we’re doing is bridging the gap between original post and new idea. You’re essentially gathering research.
This is what AI is perfect for:
Bridging the gap where your brain struggles to connect.
Don’t be afraid to use it.
This Week's Story
How I Quit my Hometown, Overcame the Fear and Changed my Life
In 2019 I moved from my hometown to London.
I moved because I felt stagnant in my hometown.
- I’d worked at the same company for 8 years
- I’d gone to the same pubs for 8 years
- I’d driven the same roads for 8 years
Don't get me wrong, I love my hometown. My family and friends are there. It's important to me. And I love going back.
Thing is, I’m slightly addicted to growth.
I need to feel like my life is progressing in some way or I feel like a failure.
But I’d visited London for work 2/3 times. It was the place to be. I loved it and needed to be there.
The problem was: it’s bloody scary.
A whole new city. New people. New job. New company. New pubs. New work commute. New house. It would ALL change.
And being a bit ambivert, this stuff makes me super nervous, but really excites me too.
I needed to find a new job, quit my current job and then find a place to live.
After 8 months job searching I finally got an interview.
(yeah turns out all jobs in London want a degree which I don’t have, despite having 8 years work experience, another reason I hate the 9-5)
And they offered me to join in 1 months time.
But the biggest thing here: it wasn’t my dream job.
It was A job. It was the gap I needed to bridge to progress my life in the direction I wanted.
It didn’t need to be perfect. It just needed to be done.
Then, I can change.
Moving to London ended up being the best decision I ever made.
- I grew in confidence
- I met new people
- I explored a new city
- I shed parts of my old self I didn’t like
Now, 4 years later I’m engaged to Serine my amazing partner, we live in Cyprus and I run my own business (which I don’t need a degree for).
Growth continues.
But it wouldn’t have happened without taking the imperfect first step towards change.
If you want to change, just take 1 step in that direction.
Not 10 all at once at the end goal.
That's all for this week. I hope you enjoyed reading.
See you next Saturday.
Cheers,
Matt
